The Graham Bonnet biography is in the final stages we’re glad to say. Simon was busy adding nifty design touches to the layout last week: “It’s nice to be able to add a bit of extra interest to the design. Until the other week we had to be careful as the content was still subject to change, but now it’s just about fixed, I can start to sharpen the pages up – indeed actually generate the left and right page numbering for the first time. This took two days to sort out, as I really wanted to have each new chapter start on a right-hand side. One feature of the Easy book is the mass of photos and memorabilia throughout, which does create extra problems trying to match them to the text, but I really dislike those biographies which just stuff the photos into a block.”
We had a meet up with Graham and his manager backstage at the show in Manchester last weekend (they both refer to the book as The Dead Sea Scrolls, it having taken a good bit longer to finish than expected!), and watched the soundcheck. Graham was also interviewed about the book and his new album by Jon Kirkman there. We will go live with pre-orders very soon, and details will be sent to subscribers to the newsletter first.
Just to let people know we have finally got to the end of the last chapter of the Graham Bonnet biography layout. We have overshot the page count by a bit, but are meeting up with the author in a couple of days to run through the pages one more time, so will hopefully be able to squeeze everything in. Inevitably new pictures are still arriving but we have to draw a line somewhere! There are a few photographs which now have to be cleared and licensed and then we can begin to prepare the artwork files for print.

Classic Rock magazine gave us a nice plug for the forthcoming Graham Bonnet biography just before Christmas (you can see the article here on their website). The book was also trailed in the latest edition of Record Collector magazine. I’m not sure where they got their information from but it was mostly correct! Record Collector will be doing an interview with Graham when he is touring in the UK in February, and reviewing the book when it is out. For more on the book check the preview pages.

For the first time the biography of one of rock’s most travelled vocalists is being published. Written by long time Bonnet fan (and one time publisher of Graham’s own fanzine) Steve Wright, and with the full co-operation of Graham himself, the book cover the singer’s long journey from bracing Skegness to the sunnier climes of Los Angeles, and all points in between. Including one or two of the more notorious moments of his career; but as Graham says, what’s the point in trying to gloss over events which are a matter of record. The occasional bit of over exposure aside, the book documents his career in fascinating detail, with input from many of the musicians, producers and people who have worked alongside him.

We have also been able to add the final cover artwork; this has taken a while to sort out as we found a great image for the front which we thought was ideal, but didn’t want to post the cover design until everything was fully cleared. This meant making sure Graham liked the cover, and the author, then asking the photographer for permission to use the image.
